This Friday, the Jewish Affinity Group (JAG) is hosting its annual Channukah Fest to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Jewish students and “Jallies” alike are awaiting this longstanding tradition, which was conceptualized by the JAG, pre-covid.
Eliza Schwartz’ 24, an avid Channukah Fest lover and JAG member expressed her excitement for this year’s celebrations, stating “I really think every year has continuously improved, and this year’s celebration definitely proves that.”
Another Channukah Fest superfan and proud “Jally,” Calum Regan’ 24, shared his excitement for the celebration. Regan said, “ I love learning about Channukah and the Jewish culture through Channukah Fest; the latkes are a great bonus.”
When asked about what to expect at this year’s Channukah Fest, Atara Loewenberg ‘24, the President of JAG explained, “We, the Jewish Affinity Group, want to combine a good time with an educational aspect, so everyone can expect dreidels, cookie decorating, and Jewish Jeopardy, which we’re calling Jewpardy.”
Apart from sharing her excitement regarding the fun activities and tasty food options, Loewenberg emphasized the importance of communities coming together to celebrate the holiday.
Lowenberg said, “I love and appreciate the fact that we can come together and celebrate…Especially right now, with the rise of anti-Semitism in the country, it’s even more important that this community is able to celebrate the Jewish religion and culture.”
